The dining room as a luxurious, oriental tent
Interior designer Julie Rootes transformed the dining room into an interior inspired by Marrakech's luxury hotels and Oriental culture. The walls and ceiling are covered entirely with alpaca wool fabric, creating the impression of a tent.
As Julie Rootes recalls, she had only 4 months to arrange this dining room, and she was not allowed to interfere with or modify the existing architecture. So the designer decided to cover it, creating something resembling an exclusive tent in the room.
The main inspiration for the dining room was Marrakech's luxury hotels and the atmosphere of this city, often called the "quintessence of the Orient". The interior was to be an elegant and at the same time casual space where you can celebrate special moments with your loved ones.
To create the tent arrangement, the designer used over 180 m of exclusive alpaca wool fabric, which was designed especially for this interior by Sandra Jordan, the owner of the Prima Alpaca brand. Not only the walls but also the ceiling were covered with fabric, turning the dining room into an intimate tent.
